Okay, so I guess this is like my diary, but public, except no one knows about it. LIKE NO ONE. Hmmm. Maybe I'll tell peoples about it. If I did, hello! If not...hellohellohellohellohello (pssst--that was an ECHO)(cause its EMPTY)(get it? FATALITY TEHE)
DEAR DIARY,
I haven't written in you/on you in a year.
So I applied to high schools recently. To all my ghostly followers...THE HIGH SCHOOL PROCESS in New York City (where there are like bajillions of schools) is quite the hassle. You have to take a test (the SHSAT: Specialized High School Assessment Test or whatever) to try to get into any "specialized high schools".
WHAT MAKES A HIGH SCHOOL SPECIALIZED?
You have to take the SHSAT to get into it.
Anyway, then there are other schools with various ways of applying. Besides taking the SHSAT, I also applied to Beacon, Bard, and Laguardia. (These are not their full names. These are just the names by which everyone refers to them. I do not know their full names.)
BEACON: make a portfolio with a work you did last year for school that you're proud of (something that you wrote, like an essay, or like a project or something) and then go take their essay test and have an interview.
BARD: take their test and if you get a good score, they call you back for an interview. It's hard to get into, but I did get called back. However, my mom thinks I shouldn't go becasue it's very far away from where I live. Annnnd I probably won't go. And I might not even have passed the interview, so....yeah.
LAGUARDIA: Auditionnnnnnnnnnnnns. I auditioned for their Drama department and their vocal department. (I forgot to mention: This is a performing arts school.) I really would liek to go here for Drama, but it's super hard to get in for drama. It's easier to get in for vocal, but even if I do get in for vocal I might not go to vocal.
That's basically what I've been up to. Well not really , that ended two months ago. What I've been up to is waiting to get my results. They come in February, unless you didn't get into any specialized schools. THen they come in March.
THAZALL FOR TODAY.

You're so lucky to live in New York City! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a hassle to me, though, I still wish I lived in NYC. I'd love to transfer schools there; now I'm at community college.
ReplyDeleteI've heard Bard is an amazing school...
